Our business is to manage teak plantations and to sell the teak logs to importers and users worldwide. We manage 650 hectares of teak plantations, some of the oldest in Panama. Of this we own 400 hectares and manage 250 hectares for other investors. All of it is FSC-certified. This means, amongst others, that you can feel secure that our forests are managed in a responsible manner and that none of our teak comes from illegally felled forests. Everything comes from our FSC-certified plantations.
We also sell some teak through our Swedish company Boxhult AB, who refines it for sawn and planed products, and sell to various customers.
The main part of our teak was planted between 1991 and 1999, but we have also planted more teak during the past few years. We follow about 100 test areas of teak plantations. The average diameter is about 30-35 centimeters for the oldest forest (at breast hight, about 1,5 meters from the ground), and the teak is pruned up to between 7 and 10 meters, with a very low share of dead knots.
The main part of the teak is to be harvested in 5-10 years from now.
Volume of thinning:
2012-2014: approximately 2000 m3 yearly
In 5 to 10 years the yearly volume will be between 10.000 to 20.000 m3
